About Us
Faith Baptist Church commenced meeting in February of 2006 with a small group of believers, who were convinced that there was a need for a Bible based Independent Baptist church in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne.
Our small group was determined to have a church that would hold to the truth found in the Word of God and avoid the liberalism and secularism, which has strongly permeated the church in these days.
Our doctrines would be those only found in the Bible and we believed that it was important that the preaching would also be based on the Bible. To avoid the pragmatism, modern psychological and marketing techniques employed by most modern churches, we decided to base our church on the simplicity of the early church found in the book of Acts.
Our focus would come from a single verse in the Bible found in Hebrew 13:8
“ Jesus, the same, yesterday and today and forever”
to remind us that it is ALL about Him.
We then decided to build the church’s foundation on four key elements found in the early church which revolve around this theme. These four elements are found in the book of Acts 2:42
“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers”.
These would be the foundational elements of our church. In aid of this we would only use the most accurate and trustworthy of all Bible translations, the King James Bible.
We were also acutely aware that most churches in our modern age were now only preaching either ‘feel good’ messages or ‘self improvement’ messages, while denying some of the most significant doctrines found in the Word of God because they have become unpalatable.
We strongly hold to the use of traditional hymns as they hold and teach many important doctrines not found in modern music. They also lack the ‘sensuality’ found in many modern choruses which tend to influence the singer into an emotional state making them susceptible to psychological manipulation. ‘Altar Calls’ found in most churches rely on this type of manipulation, where a tune is played over and over again, the lights are dimmed and the speaker is able to manipulate the person into making a decision. We disagree with this method. It is neither Biblical, nor does the evidence support it’s ability to produce true conversions.
WARNING TO THE READER
If you do not hear messages from your church pulpit about the blood of Christ and its power to cleanse from sin, the judgement of the unsaved who shall be cast into the lake of fire, the doctrine of separation, the call for holiness, the requirement of repentance for salvation, eternal security, the divinity of Jesus Christ, compromise with the world or worldliness and denominational error, then more than likely you are worshipping in a church that has forsaken the Word of God and is under God’s judgement.
In addition to this, if your church’s focus seems to be its music ministry, personal giving from the congregation, personal success in one’s life, blessings from God, cooperating with other churches, church growth and being ‘seeker sensitive’, then alarms bells should be ringing in your ears. You should immediately pick up the Bible (not all the modern watered down versions, but the real Word of God) and start studying it properly. The danger is what you are not being taught. The question is this; have you believed in a false gospel? Or putting it another way; do you worship the same Jesus as the one taught in the Bible?
It could be jeopardizing your eternal destiny!
The apostle Paul gave the following warning to Timothy about churches in the last days before the return of Christ, found in 2Tim 4:1-4
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
This warning applies itself to OUR DAY more clearly than ANY OTHER TIME IN HISTORY.
When the apostle Paul finished preaching to a group of people he confidently stated the following words found in Acts 20:26-27
"Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God."
“All the counsel of God” is what Faith Baptist Church is determined to preach.
